Nine Days to Nurture: Love.

Love is the perfect topic for me today.

I think it's pretty obvious that love is a HUGE part of marriage and family life. When love is absent, there can be loneliness, fear, and worry. When love is present, happiness can be the dominant emotion of life.

But love is so much deeper than just commitment or strong feelings for another person. It starts with the self and expands outward. If you want love to abound in your home, here are 5 phrases to live by.

1. Love yourself with everything you have, even on the bad days.
2. Focus on the good (in yourself, others, & the world).
3. You deserve love. Others deserve love.
4. Give love freely & selflessly.
5. Love changes people. And changed people change the world.

Make love the centerpiece of your personality. Show love to yourself. Show love to your spouse, family, & friends. Expel the negative feelings that detract from the love that can abound in your life so fully if you choose to let it.

But of course, it's always easier said than done. Learning to love can be a long, hard process. Give yourself time and practice patience when trying to develop love in your life. Make sure to start with the basics of love and eventually, you'll be able to feel a significant change in your life.

For me, love is a motivator. My husband has been so good at showing his love to me, and I learn from that wonderful example every day. And if there's one thing I do know, it's that love truly is patient and kind. It's the center of life, so take the time to develop love in your everyday interactions and you'll notice a change in your life unlike any other.
